The R449a HFO (Hydrofluoroolefin) blend is a high-performing refrigerant used in a wide range of commercial refrigeration applications. Used as a replacement for the R404a and R507 in low and medium temperature refrigeration applications, the R449a is viable for both new installations as well as retrofits of existing systems.
A mixture of the R32, R125, R134a HFCs and a hydrofluoroolefin molcule R1234yf, renders it a more environmentally sustainable, non-ozone depleting refrigerant while also providing improved performance compared to the R404a and R507.
As a result of its low global warming potential (67% lower than the R404a and R507), 8 to 12% higher energy efficiency and quick, easy and inexpensive retrofitting, the R449a has become the leading refrigerant used in various applications.
